It’s time to take immediate action to support humanitarian access to the affected populations in Gaza. The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza demands urgent attention and concerted efforts to ensure the delivery of essential aid and services to those in need.
The people of Gaza have endured years of conflict, blockade, and economic hardship, resulting in dire living conditions and limited access to basic necessities such as food, clean water, healthcare, and education. The recent escalation of violence has only exacerbated the suffering of innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, who are disproportionately affected by the consequences of armed conflict.
We must stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza and take concrete steps to alleviate their suffering and address their urgent humanitarian needs. We call upon our governments to:
Advocate for Unimpeded Humanitarian Access: Urge relevant authorities and international bodies to facilitate unimpeded access for humanitarian organisations and aid workers to deliver lifesaving assistance to the affected populations in Gaza, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
Support Funding for Humanitarian Relief Efforts: Allocate resources and funding towards humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza to provide essential aid and services, including food, medical supplies, shelter, and psychosocial support, to those affected by the conflict.
Promote Dialogue and Diplomacy: Advocate for the resumption of meaningful dialogue and diplomatic efforts to address the root causes of the conflict and work towards a just and lasting solution that respects the rights and dignity of all parties involved.
Protect Civilians and Uphold Human Rights: Call for the protection of civilians and the respect for human rights and international humanitarian law in all circumstances, including during armed conflict, to prevent further loss of life and alleviate human suffering.
Foster Long-Term Development and Reconstruction: Support efforts to promote long-term development and reconstruction in Gaza, including the rebuilding of essential infrastructure, such as schools, hospitals, water and sanitation facilities, and housing, to improve the lives and livelihoods of the people of Gaza and build sustainable peace.
By taking action to support humanitarian access to the affected populations in Gaza, we can demonstrate our commitment to upholding human dignity, promoting peace and stability, and ensuring that no one is left behind in times of crisis.
We urge you to stand on the right side of history and prioritize the humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza. The time to act is now.
