We, the undersigned, write to express our deep frustration and concern over alleged fraudulent pricing practices by Coles and Woolworths. Recent revelations indicate that these two major supermarket chains have engaged in misleading pricing strategies that are both deceptive and unethical. According to court documents, prices on essential items like noodles, coffee, pet food, and even hand soap were allegedly inflated by as much as 36%, only to be reduced through deceptive “discounts” that led consumers to believe they were getting a deal.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has rightly flagged these practices as a violation of consumer protection laws. However, for millions of Australians who rely on these stores for essential goods, the damage to trust and the impact on household budgets cannot be overstated.

We urge your government to:

• Direct the ACCC to take legal action against Coles and Woolworths to ensure accountability for these alleged fraudulent practices;
• Hold these corporations fully accountable for deceptive pricing tactics that exploit hardworking Australians.

This petition represents the voices of Australians who are tired of being taken advantage of by corporations who prioritize profits over ethical practices. We need the government’s support to ensure Coles and Woolworths face the consequences for their actions.
