Stop animal testing in Australia – advocate for humane alternatives

Millions of animals in Australia, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and mice, suffer from cruel and unnecessary tests every year, despite the availability of humane alternatives.
- Animal testing continues for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and education despite available alternatives.
- The 2019 ban still allows animal-tested products to be sold.
- Thousands of animals suffer in outdated, unnecessary tests.
We must act now to change this.
Australia can be a global leader in ethical science by adopting alternatives that do not involve animals. While the 2019 ban on cosmetic testing was a step forward, much more needs to be done to protect animals from needless suffering.
We urge the Australian Government to:
- End the use of animals in testing by adopting alternative research methods, such as cell cultures and computer simulations.
- Strengthen current legislation to include bans on testing for all products, not just cosmetics.
- Promote the funding and development of non-animal alternatives for medical and scientific research.
We are aiming for 10,000 signatures by November 30, 2024, to demand that the government take action now. Humane, effective alternatives already exist, and Australia can lead the way in compassionate science.

Humans are the scourge of the planet. Surely they don't need to keep testing on animals, who can't communicate whether the test work or not. It's all down to money. Maybe hardened criminals could be used for the tests. At least they can speak. The worst thing about that is the do-gooders would carry on about the criminals rights. Sadly, justice is a dying art.

We are no longer in the dark ages. We have progressed from using animals for testing. Other methods have been and can be used to test products. No animal no longer needs to be used

yes science does not need animal subject to verify (or deny) usage, dosage, toxicity levels and/or efficacy for any cosmetic products nor most medical supplies. Thus, testing of animals is a relict practice with poor excuses of its need.

I believe- regardless of researchers stating all lab animals are treated‘humanely’- that is- not - the case. Giving pain relief- then isolating once they have served their ‘purpose’ to be euthanised out of sight of other ‘lab’ animals- is totally abusive.

I cannot condone inflicting suffering on dogs, cats, or any other animal that in order to 'experiment'. It taints any successful outcome from research, and is brutal to do this to a sentient being who has no power. There is no ethical justification in my opinion.

Im sick of the overwhelming amount of cat and kittens abandoned dumped and killed in pounds. As a rescuer for 15 years it isn't getting better its getting worse.
