Despite growing awareness, the EU remains a major player in the shark fin trade, with countries like Spain and Portugal exporting fins to Asia. This fuels overfishing, destabilizes marine ecosystems, and drives shark populations toward collapse.
We call on the EU to ban the trade, sale, and import of shark fins in all Member States. Following the example of nations like Canada, the US, and the UK, the EU must act to protect sharks, preserve marine biodiversity, and ensure a sustainable future.
