Camels and horses used for tourist rides at iconic sites like the Great Pyramid of Giza and Luxor’s royal tombs are suffering unimaginable cruelty. Despite promises, the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism has failed to act. Tourists unknowingly fund this abuse, and the brutality must stop.
Sign this petition to demand the Egyptian government ban the use of camels and horses in tourism. Stronger laws are urgently needed to protect these innocent animals from further harm.
Update: Egypt has announced initial reforms in response to PETA and its supporters. The National Programme for the Care and Protection of Horses, Camels, and Pets at Archaeological Sites will provide veterinary care, including on-site vets at key locations like the pyramids. While this is a positive step, similar past initiatives have failed to bring lasting change. We continue to push for a complete ban on animal rides, as better care cannot eliminate the inherent exploitation. Tourists are urged to avoid supporting these practices and advocate for a ban.
