Australia Day should unite, not divide. While January 26 holds meaning for many, it is also a reminder of deep pain for First Nations peoples, representing the start of colonisation and centuries of injustice.

Reconsidering the date is an opportunity to build a more inclusive Australia. By choosing a day that celebrates our achievements while respecting the past, we can create a national day that everyone feels proud to honor.

We call on the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, to:

1. Engage in dialogue to explore alternative dates that unite all Australians.
2. Support educational initiatives that reflect our full history, including First Nations perspectives.
3. Celebrate diversity through inclusive national events that acknowledge the resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
