Australia has shown we can act with urgency and compassion. We did it for Ukrainians, proving that fast-tracked protection, work rights, and stability are possible. But today, a mother escaping bombings in Sudan, a child displaced by war in Gaza, or a family fleeing persecution in Afghanistan may not find that same refuge. Instead, they are left waiting, unable to work, access healthcare, or move forward.
When war erupts, people don’t choose to leave — they are forced to. They leave behind their homes, careers, and communities with no certainty of return. More than aid, they need the chance to rebuild. These are skilled, resilient people who, when given the chance, contribute, create jobs, and enrich communities.
We call on the Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese to:
We are not demanding an increase in migration, we are demanding a chance for refugees to rebuild and give back.

Subject: A Fair Refugee Response – Urgent Action Needed
Dear Prime Minister Albanese,
Australia has long been a nation that prides itself on fairness and compassion, stepping up in times of crisis to provide protection to those fleeing conflict and persecution. In 2022, your government demonstrated swift and humane action by granting over 4,000 visas to Ukrainians within a month of the war’s onset, providing work rights, healthcare access, and a pathway to stability. This response proved that when the political will exists, Australia can act with urgency and fairness.
However, today, refugees from Sudan, Gaza, and Afghanistan face a starkly different reality. Many are granted only temporary visas with no work rights, no healthcare access, and no certainty for the future. A mother escaping bombings in Sudan, a child displaced by war in Gaza, or a family fleeing persecution in Afghanistan should not have to wait in limbo while their lives remain in jeopardy. These are people with skills, resilience, and the drive to contribute to Australian society—yet they are left without the basic rights to rebuild.
We call on your government to ensure a fair and structured response for all refugees by:
This is not a call to increase migration quotas. It is a call for equity in protection, ensuring that all refugees — regardless of their country of origin — are given a fair chance to rebuild their lives. We urge you to take immediate action and lead Australia toward a more just and humane refugee response.
Sincerely,
