Protect Afghan Women: Stop Taliban’s Brutal Laws

Petition to: Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand Winston Peter

Protect Afghan Women: Stop Taliban’s Brutal Laws
The Taliban have banned women from speaking in public!

Since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan, women and girls have faced relentless oppression, losing access to education, careers, and even the basic right to leave their homes freely. Now, under new “vice and virtue” laws, Afghan women are prohibited from speaking in public or showing their faces, risking punishment for even their voices being heard.

This law highlights:

  • Women are banned from public speech, singing, or reading aloud.
  • Women are required to fully cover their faces and bodies in thick clothing.
  • Severe restrictions on women’s movements, including the requirement of male escorts in public.
  • Legal punishments for drivers who transport women without approved male guardians.

Human rights groups have condemned these new rules as a terrifying escalation of the Taliban’s already intolerable restrictions. The UN has warned that this growing “gender apartheid” aims to erase women and girls from public life.

New Zealand needs to use it’s voice on the world stage to demand that the Taliban end their war on women and hold them accountable for human rights abuses.

We’re calling on Winston Peters to act on behalf of Afghan women and support human rights in Afghanistan. Sign the petition to make your voice heard and join us in the fight to defend Afghan women’s rights.

Take action by signing this petition today to hold the Taliban responsible for their human rights abuses.
