Women’s rights defender, Fatma al Arwali, faces execution
Fatma has been subjected to a series of human rights violations by the Huthi’s security forces
Since 2015, Amnesty International has documented over 60 cases of individuals facing unfair trials

A young mother is about to be executed in Yemen.

Fatma, 34, a women’s rights advocate was unfairly sentenced to death by the Specialized Criminal Court in Sana’a, under Huthi control, who found her guilty of supposedly “aiding an enemy country.”

Her trial was riddled with irregularities, including denial of legal representation. Since her arrest in August 2022, Fatma has suffered forced disappearance, solitary confinement, and torture by Huthi security forces.

Fatma’s imminent execution is scheduled to take place in Tahrir Square under the eyes of the Huthi de facto authorities.

Fatma, a former head of the Yemen office of the Women Leadership Union of the Arab League, has devoted her life to promoting women’s rights.

Her death sentence, obtained through a flawed trial, is a grave injustice.

We urgently appeal to the Huthi de facto authorities in Yemen to halt the imminent execution of Fatma al-Arwali, a dedicated human rights defender.
